[We were talking about the madness of mentally ill people.]
Once, when a santal youth was attacked by madness, then his family men came to Banagram Ashram taking him with them. Guruji said that the reason of mental imbalance of most of the young persons is perversion of sex. The primary reasons of madness of young people are failure in love, not to arrange timely marriage by parents, dissatisfied sex in married life. After then, it increases to mental illness, capture by god, capture by ghost etc…etc.
However, Guruji assigned this responsibility to Murari Maharaj for arranging Jalneti & Sutraneti(yogic process) for the youth, noticing all his illness- when that strong santal youth was brought to Guru Maharaj. Guruji assigned this responsibility only to Murari Maharaj. Madness was cured within 2/5 days, when a mentally disturbed person was bound to do Jalneti and Sutraneti and to dip 100/150 times in a pond. ( Usually, the mentally disturbed persons are not attacked by coldness quickly. If it is done, they will be recovered soon.) Murari Maharaj was trying to help the youth to do Jalneti but he was shouting and throwing his hands and legs. He was throwing his hands and legs in such a way that Murari Maharaj was almost to get hurt. Of course, as Murari Maharaj was assigned to cure the madness of mentally disturbed persons, he was tortured by them several times. It happened that once a youth named Suman [ later Suman was initiated in other community. Probably, his ‘Kulakundalini power’ ( a method of yoga) awoke due to his austere aesthetic practice.] captured Murari Maharaj and lifted him on the bunk of office room. ( That time a mentally ill person became so powerful that a mad person was not tackled by even 5/7 persons.) Murari Maharaj was not able to get down. What an embarrassing situation!!! [What I heard about Suman from Murari Maharaj was that Suman studied Sanskrit (honours) in Kalna College. He was attacked by mental disturbance when he was studying in Kalna College. A brahmachari named Manojit ( Brahmachari Manojit used to knit in his beard, so he was called ‘Gnit Manojit’ i.e ‘knit Manojit’) of our ashram brought Suman and his father in Banagram Ashram for the first time at one night. That night Suman created too much annoyance in the ashram such as he shouted, he danced nakedly. At last, being annoyed by him- Murari Maharaj shackled him and forced him to enter in one room of the ashram. Murari Maharaj closed and locked the door making his father entering in the same room also. In the morning, when Suman’s father tried to leave the ashram taking his son with him- then Murari Maharaj made them late sending them in the kitchen to take breakfast. Meanwhile, Guruji came out of His room taking a glass of liquor in His hand. Then Guruji asked Murar Maharaj, “Who was shouting last night?” Suman and his father were present there themselves. Then Suman started to tell the second chapter of Srimatbhagabat Gita ( Gita is the holy book of Hindus) spontaneously, when he looked at Guru Maharaj. He forgot one time also. Just he forgot, he hit the thigh of his father and he said to him, “Hey, damn! tell the rest of this chapter.” What a surprise!!! His father also began to speak the rest of this chapter spontaneously, getting hurt by his son. That day Guru Maharaj also laughed, noticing the activities of son and father. After then, when Suman shouted again- Guruji hit on a particular part of his back. As a result, he became totally calm. After a while, both the duo left the sitting place- bowing down their heads to Guru Maharaj.
Suman came to Banagram ashram for the first time during this incident. After then, Suman came to Banagram Ashram now and then. For few days, he stayed in Kankaleshwari temple, Burdwan town- accompanied by Swami Madhabananda Maharaj of Banagram Ashram. He worked at ‘charaibeti Karyalay’ of Banagram Ashram for several days. It is heard later that he set up an ashram independently. He started to initiate also. After then, he involved in many problems. Probably, he is a family man now.
