[My first visit to Banagram]
He also used to say about His own mother Nibhanani Debi– “My mother was very naive, she could not even count if she was given a lot of money at once. My mother could do different type of cooking very well – especially Saru_Chakli, Pithe_Puli, Patisapta(type of foods) etc. The people in the house next door and other neighboring Brahmin families would call His mother or come to Guruji’s house if they wanted to cook Pithe – Puli, Saru_Chakli etc.
This time I’ll talk about another mother or ‘Maa Jagadamba’ (goddess). These are written in some different books. He said – “I had first met my Holy Mother at the age of five. On my way back home from primary school with sisters near the Shib temple I suddenly amazed to see the sexual intercourse of a dog and a bitch and kept looking at it. On the opposite side there was a black-skinned girl of my age, with thick black hairs spread across her back, a large red tip on her forehead. She beckoned and called me. Then She stretched out Her hands and sat down holding the dog and the bitch. I also moved forward – looking at Her face, Her eyes. My body, my mind began to change. The big red tip of Her forehead slowly began to grow in front of my eyes. Growing up, it became so big that it even passed the horizon. Then I didn’t have the sense of my body anymore – that’s why I fell there. Later the people of my family came and took me to their lap and took me to house. As soon as I opened my eyes, my mother looked at me lowering her face – then I suddenly noticed a big red tip on her forehead . It also began to grow up, and became so big that it passed the horizon ! Seeing it I overwhelmed – again my sense of body was gone too!”
From then on, ‘Maa Jagadamba’ did not leave the company of Guru Maharaj. As His age increased, Her age also increased. In the beginning, Guru Maharaj was taught the knowledge of the Universe by ‘Maa Jagadamba’ since Guru Maharaj had the intuition of ‘Shatabhisha’ star, that’s why the intuition of the Earth had to be input at that time.
At that time many people used to see an idol of a girl was sitting in the room of Guru Maharaj. The ‘Mejo Kaka’ of Mukherjee’s house of Banagram (Hari Maharaj’s father) once saw Her in that form. She was the one who once informed Guru Maharaj during Trishanda’s illness that, “The boy is suffering from high fever!”. Guru Maharaj said – “Then you’ll take care a little!” Then ‘Maa Jagadamba’ went to him in the guise of an adolescent girl, and Trishanda’s fever subsided as soon as She touched his head !
There are many such incidents. But we think that as soon as Guru Maharaj established himself as a ‘Guru'(master), that ‘maternal power’ merged with Guru Maharaj ! Then this two were mingled and exactly formed one ! That is why He might have said – “God’s ‘leela’ can never be same. This time you should not go out to look for Sarada Maa and Vivekananda separately. If you do, you will become fool! Now those three powers are existing in this(Guruji’s) body.”
Jagada’s mother(Raina) was also highly respected by Guru Maharaj. Jagada’s mother was also very simple woman. There was a great poverty in her house but if someone went there, she would not leave without feeding Him. At that time Guru Maharaj was working in Rural Electrification in Raina. It was the time when He had His first conversation with Jagada or with other devotees of Raina. Jagada’s mother, Dr. Bidyut Barua’s mother and many others used to love Guru Maharaj (Rabin) like their own child. But Jagada’s mother was an exceptional character. Many people could see the impression of Maa Yashoda(Lord Krishna’s mother) in her. Guru Maharaj stayed and ate in that house day after day after being bound by mother’s affection. The house was so poor that everyone might have spent the day by eating a little bit or might not have eaten some days, but still they did not leave Guruji and Guruji did not leave that house either. Later, when we went to Raina Ashram with Guruji, we saw the reunion of son Swami Paramananda with mother. And no matter how long Guru Maharaj stayed in Raina Ashram – of course, One day Guruji would go to that house with all the devotees. Sitting on the floor of the Jagada’s mud house, we even ate together with Guru Maharaj and everyone else, a few times. Raina’s mother always smiled! And her smile was baby-like !
Actually, Guru Maharaj had many such mothers, whom He called “Janani”. Such as Swami Purnananda Maharaj’s mother, Mejo Kakima and N’Kakima of Mukherjee’s house in Banagram, Chhoto maa_ and many more. However, Raina’s ‘Sandhya maa’ was relatively young but everyone used to call her ‘Maa’. Chhoto maa was also one of His such mothers. She belonged to the “Ta” family of a village called “Dhamas” in the South Damodar region. She had been a widow since she was young. Dasharathi Ta was a great leader of the Congress then. Dasharathi Ta was a minister in the assembly when Bidhan Chandra Roy was the Chief Minister. Dasharathi’s aunt was “Chhoto maa”. She used to say very proudly about Dasharathi __ “I went to Dumdum with Dasharathi, I went to the Assembly also __ everyone called me the mother of the minister.”
Chhoto maa established a ‘Gopal’ and used to worship it. After met with Guruji, she saw that ‘Gopal’ inside Guru Maharaj. Guru Maharaj arranged for her to stay in the ashram at her last age and she died there.
Purnima Maa from Bankura was also called Maa by Guru Maharaj. Purnima mother was a woman from the ‘Shabor’ tribe. But by meditating (or pre-intuition) on initiation to Guru Maharaj, she became so advanced that she once stopped Guru Maharaj, who was travelling in a subtle body, visually in meditation for a while ! Guru Maharaj later said, “It was not a trivial matter ! That mother stopped the rule of Mahakal for 5/10 minutes!”
