[We were discussing about Guruji’s rebukes…]
It was fact that we were fond of the men who were rebuked by Guruji. Because they will ask silly or intelligent questions and we will listen to holy speeches from Guru Maharaj. The men who asked Guruji the most were Joyram Da of Kalna, Dr Ashu of Karimpur, Sabya Da(from Singur), Ghora Daktar (horse doctor) and his elder brother. One of the devotees from Singur asked Guruji the embarrassing questions. Most of the time these questions were negative and these questions were sometimes related to sexuality. He asked Guruji questions in a such way that Guruji faced an embarrassing situation and as a result, the devotees who were present in the sitting felt ashamed ! But the master orator(Guruji) tackled the embarrassing situation easily. He answered the questions in the stoic, impassive way. Sometimes Guruji answered the questions in the mood of rebuke. But it was fact that when Guruji made him understand the answer affectionately- that devotee started to weep. Guruji introduced to others of him – “He is my friend!” After Guruji leaving his body, I and Nanu Maharaj (Swami Nirbedananda Maharaj) went to his house, as soon as we started to talk about Guruji he began to weep. He said- ” I have behaved badly with Guruji then. Of course, I had to behave more properly with him.”
It was said that, that very person was a bold devotee! Once, he visited Banagram Ashram peculiarly and that time many devotees from Singur came with him. Alighting from the train, the devotees from Singur, got in a bus of Memari- Samanti route and they got down at Bhandul. From there they started to walk and arrived at Banagram Ashram. After then taking a cup of tea at the kitchen, that man came back to Singur again ! On the other side, the men accompanied by him joined in Guruji’s sitting and informed Him that that very devotee also had come with them. We all, present in the sitting, were waiting for the arrival of him for a long time. The sitting ended but that man did not come. It was heard later that he had left the ashram! After long days, when we met again_ I enquired about the incident and he answered -“In fact, that day I experimented an idea. It is fact that we all come here by the attraction of Guru Maharaj. I experimented whether it is possible to come back home without meeting Guruji after visiting the some places of the ashram. I have succeeded and it was my satisfaction!”
I once heard that Guruji perhaps said that ‘the power which Sri Ramkrishna brought with him, if Guruji brought the same power, then the power would end to tackle just the some devotees such as that devotee’.
There were many incidents of him with Guruji. Among them, I am telling just some of the incidents which I witnessed in my own eyes. Guruji perhaps said that he was born as french poet Ranbo in his earlier birth. It was strange that although the devotee was born in the village of Singur, he learned the french language very good from his childhood. Later, he wrote the poems in the both languages of bengali and french. These poems were published also.
A french woman came to India under the supervision of international organisation of WHO or Red Cross. After then she came to Banagram to meet Guruji when she first came to know Guruji from a source.Once Guruji said that the woman was his(that man’s) wife or girlfriend in his earlier birth. We astonishingly noticed that they came close together with each other very soon, whether the devotee knew the french language or the other reason. At last situation came at a point when the lady proposed him to go with her in France after leaving his wife. Later the lady was sent back to her motherland France after facing many problems and troubles.
That very person served in such a department(central government) that he had to learn Judo, karate during his trainning. He said this matter boastly and one day he challenged Guruji to fight karate, kung fu etc. against him. Guruji accepted the challenge . Then Guruji was ready as well as the devotee ! Guruji at first said to him that He will only resist the Kick and He will not hit him at all. At first the man tried to hit Guruji and Guruji resisted it. Again he kicked Guruji. Guruji defended it in a such way that he hit his own teeth with his own leg and his teeth were injured very badly!! The man suffered with those affected teeth for long days.
Once the man was going behind Guruji and he tried to fall Guruji after keeping his leg to Guruji’s leg ! He tried it several times but failed. Then without a backward glance, Guruji said to him- “Don’t try it again and if you do so, you must fall in a danger.”
Later we asked the devotee- ” Why did you do so?” That person replied- “look, the very man Swami Paramananda – He is a man! But I have tried to defeat Him several times but these all were in vain. So, that day I tried to fall Guruji keeping my leg to his leg. If I succeeded, I pounced on Guruji and kicked heavily on Guruji’s face and after then I fled to a field. If I did not flee, Trishan Da, Murari Maharaj caught me and after then they kicked me badly. If I succeeded to flee, I did not come to Banagram Ashram further. Why will I come? What is the benefit coming to the Man who defeats? But He is not defeating in any cases. Rather, we are defeating!!”
Once Guruji held a sitting in a room of Ajimgunj Ashram. The room was little. There was a bedstead in the room.Guruji was on the bedstead and we all were down seated. That time two or three Europeans (the devotees of ashram) came to the room and the room was so narrow that it was hardly possible to sit well- what a gathering!!! Guruji noticed this matter and said to that very man- ” Hey you, why are you sitting down? Come here and sit beside me.” That devotee was feeling ashamed very much ( at least it might be that he was pretending.). Guruji stretched his hand towards him and pulled him and made him sit on the bedstead beside him. After then, Guruji brought a cigarette and a lighter out of his chest pocket and lighted it. He gave the man a cigarette also. The man felt ashamed too much more – to smoke a cigarette with Guruji in front of all other devotees!!! But he was bound to smoke – as he was Guruji’s friend!!![To be continued…]
